Trauma in a busy city

Trauma and PTSD support for Toronto adults

The city keeps moving, and so does life after something hard happens. You go back to work, back to the commute, back to the noise, while a part of you is still braced for danger.

Trauma-informed and gentle

Trauma can leave you jumpy and on edge, or strangely flat and numb, even years after the event is over. Safety and pacing come before anything else.

You stay in control

We work gently and slowly, building a sense of safety first, so your nervous system can learn the threat has passed. You set the pace, and you never have to relive more than feels safe.

In person or online

Meet in person at our North York office, an easy trip from across the city, or securely by video from wherever you are in Ontario.

Free and confidential

Start with a relaxed 15-minute call, usually within a few days. There is no pressure and no commitment to book ongoing sessions.

How we work

What trauma therapy looks like

Steadiness first, then gentle, evidence-based ways of letting the past become the past.

Safety and grounding first

Before we go anywhere near the hard memories, we build skills to help you feel steady and present, so the work never tips you into overwhelm.

EMDR for stuck memories

EMDR helps the brain reprocess painful memories so they lose their charge, often without you needing to describe every detail out loud.

Parts and self-compassion

Using IFS and parts work, we get to know the protective patterns that grew up around the trauma, with curiosity rather than blame.

Working with the body

Somatic and nervous-system work helps release what trauma stores in the body, so the on-edge or shut-down feeling can finally ease.

Our approach

Trauma-informed, and tailored to you

There is no single right way through trauma, so we do not force one. We draw on several evidence-based approaches and weave them together around what you are carrying and what feels safe for your nervous system right now.

For some people that means EMDR to settle a specific memory. For others it means EFT to repair trust and closeness, or somatic work to come back into the body. We move at your pace, check in often, and keep the work collaborative from start to finish. Trauma-informed care means we follow your lead, name what is happening, and never push past what feels safe.
