Insurance and reimbursement

How coverage works

Often covered Many extended health plans include psychotherapy. Worth checking your benefits.
Receipts, not direct billing We do not bill extended health insurers directly. You submit our detailed receipt to your plan for reimbursement.

Auto insurance (accident benefits). If your accident benefits claim is open after a car accident, we can submit your treatment and assessment plan to your insurer through HCAI and bill them directly, so you are not paying up front and waiting for reimbursement. Approval and limits are set by your insurer and your claim, not by us. More on therapy after a car accident

We do not bill extended health insurers directly. After every session you receive a detailed receipt with everything your insurer needs, including the therapist's registration number, and you submit it to your plan for reimbursement. Most plans that cover psychotherapy accept claims this way, online or through their app. Coverage depends on your specific plan and practitioner, so if you do not see your insurer here, just ask during your free consultation and we will confirm what applies before your first session.

Common questions

Fees and insurance questions

A few of the things people ask about cost and coverage. Anything else, just ask on your free call.

How much does therapy cost?
Individual sessions are $170 for 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions are $200. Your first step, a 15-minute consultation, is always free.
Does insurance cover therapy in Ontario?
Often, yes. Many extended health plans cover sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist. Coverage varies by plan, so it is worth checking your specific benefits, and we are happy to help you figure out what applies.
How do I claim through insurance?
We do not bill extended health insurers directly. You receive a detailed receipt after every session to submit to your plan for reimbursement, and many extended health plans include psychotherapy. For any plan we cannot bill directly, we provide receipts you can submit for reimbursement. After each session you receive a clear receipt with everything most plans need, so for many people the process is quick and simple. Which insurers we can bill depends on your plan and on your therapist, so ask at your consultation and we will confirm before your first session.
Are sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) covered?
Many plans that include psychotherapy cover Registered Psychotherapists, including Qualifying members, but some do not. The quickest way to know is to ask your insurer whether they cover a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. We can talk it through on your free call.
What if cost is a barrier?
A limited number of sliding-scale spaces ($130 to $150) are available based on financial need. If finances are tight, please just ask on your free consultation and we will see what we can do.
How do I pay for sessions?
Payment is due at the time of each session, by credit card. We do not bill extended health insurers directly. You receive a detailed receipt after every session to submit to your plan for reimbursement, and many extended health plans include psychotherapy. Ask at your consultation which applies to you.
Do you offer in-home or community visits?
Yes, with select therapists, in North York and nearby areas. In-home and community visits are arranged individually, so availability and cost depend on where you are. Book a free consultation and we will confirm both for your area. Offered for accessibility reasons, for example while recovering from a motor vehicle accident, living with a phobia that makes travelling hard, with limited mobility, or when caring for someone at home. Ask on your free consultation and we will let you know availability in your area.
