关于我A little about me
Katherine Guo
You may be used to being the one who holds everything together. Perhaps you learned early to read the room, keep your needs small, stay useful, or think your way around feelings that once felt too difficult to hold. These ways of coping may have helped you stay connected, feel safe, or preserve important relationships. Over time, though, they can begin to leave you feeling tired, distant from yourself, or caught in patterns you no longer want to repeat.
I work with adults navigating childhood and relational trauma, complex PTSD, grief, relationship difficulties, overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and emotional disconnection. I am interested in how old experiences continue to shape the ways we love, protect ourselves, and understand who we are. I also support clients exploring immigration and bicultural identity, interracial and intercultural relationships, and the wider cultural and systemic contexts that shape how we learn to belong, cope, and understand ourselves.
My approach is relational, psychodynamic, experiential, attachment-based, parts-informed and body-aware, while remaining flexible and responsive to what you need. I also bring in skills-based approaches when they help, particularly when more structure, emotional regulation, or practical support is what the moment calls for. Rather than applying one method to everyone, I tailor our work to your goals, history, strengths, and pace.
You can expect a warm, collaborative, and thoughtful space where we slow down enough to notice patterns as they unfold, make room for feelings and needs that have been difficult to hold, and explore both what has helped you survive and what may now be possible beyond those familiar ways of coping. There is no need to arrive with everything figured out. We can begin with what is here: a feeling you cannot quite name, a relationship that keeps leaving you unsettled, a familiar reaction you wish you could interrupt, or the quiet sense that something in your life no longer fits.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, baking, doing puzzles, trying new restaurants, and winding down with a good series. I also enjoy long walks by the lake with my dog and café hopping, small rituals that help me slow down, stay curious, and make room for rest and everyday pleasure.
