Our approach

Solution-focused therapy, building on what already works.

Stepping stones crossing calm water at sunset

Solution-Focused Therapy spends less time analysing the problem and more time getting clear on what you want instead, what is already working, and the next small step.

A method tailored to you, never one-size-fits-all.

In plain language

What solution-focused is

Most therapy asks what is wrong and why. Solution-focused therapy asks a different set of questions: what do you want to be different, when is the problem a little less strong, and what are you doing in those moments?

It is practical and often brief. It does not dismiss what is hard. It assumes you already have skills and resources, and helps you use them on purpose rather than by accident.

Sessions stay close to your own goals, in your own words, so the work keeps pointing somewhere you actually want to go.

Future-focused

We spend our time on where you want to get to.

Strengths first

What you already do well is the starting material.

Small, doable steps

Change is built from steps you can take this week.

In our work together

How we use it

What we work on is yours to name. Here is how it tends to show up in sessions, woven in with whatever else fits you.

A clear picture of better

We describe in concrete detail what would be different in an ordinary day if things improved.

Looking for exceptions

We find the times the problem is smaller or absent, and work out what makes them possible.

Scaling

You rate where things are from 0 to 10, and we ask what one point higher would look like.

One small step

You leave with something specific to try, and we build on whatever works.

Is it a fit?

Where it can help

If some of this resonates, it may be part of how we work, always at your pace.

Especially helpful when

You feel stuck and want practical momentum, you have a specific goal or decision in front of you, you are a parent or teen who wants tools rather than long analysis, or your time for therapy is limited.

It can help you

Get clear on what you want, notice and repeat what already works, build confidence through small wins, and keep therapy focused on what matters to you.

A little more about solution-focused

A few of the things people ask about this approach. Anything else, just ask on your free call.

What is solution-focused therapy?
Solution-Focused Therapy, sometimes called Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, is a practical approach that concentrates on what you want to be different, what is already working, and the next small step, rather than on a detailed analysis of the problem.
Does it ignore the past or my feelings?
No. What you have been through and how you feel are taken seriously. The difference is where most of the time goes: toward what you want and what helps, instead of going over the problem again and again.
Is it short-term?
It is often used as a briefer approach, but there is no set number of sessions and we will not promise one. How long you come depends on your goals and what you find useful.
Is solution-focused therapy the only approach you use?
No single method fits everyone. Most of our work blends a few evidence-informed approaches, such as solution-focused work, narrative therapy, CBT and ACT, tailored to your goals and always moving at your pace.
